AMSTERDAM/MOSCOW – On Saturday, January 25, at 2:00 p.m. local time, an international anti-fascist online conference was held, bringing together peace activists, political organizations, and independent media from Europe, America, Africa, and Asia. The goal of the meeting was to strengthen international cooperation in a time of growing global tension, war conflicts, and the escalation of armed conflicts.
The conference was held in a hybrid format – some participants were physically present in Amsterdam, while others joined via the Zoom platform. Organizers and active participants included the Platform for Peace and Solidarity operating in the Netherlands, Austria, and Greece, as well as the global network Peoples for Peace, the Hands off Venezuela initiative, the International Movement in Support of Iran, the Peace for Palestine coalition, and the Internationalist Group for Peace and Socialism.
The meeting in Amsterdam was attended in person by Petra Petraksis-Ottenbach, coordinator of the Platform for Peace and Solidarity, Karel Beckman, editor-in-chief of the independent Dutch newspaper De Andere Krant, representatives of the Peoples for Peace network Anita Deelstra and Dominicus Scheffer, as well as representatives of solidarity with Venezuela, Iran, Palestine and Latin America. The Amsterdam radio station Radio Verzet was also present. Representatives from Kazakhstan, Belgium and Estonia also confirmed their participation in person, but did not actively participate in the discussion.
Representatives of the Socialist People's Front of Lithuania Gedrius Grabauskas, the New Communist Party of England Theo Russell, the Irish Alliance for Truth and Neutrality Patrick Downey, the American political scientist Richard Sanders, the representative of the Pan-African Union from Senegal Amidou Sidibe and Roman Blaško from the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia also spoke online.
Zilvinas Razminas, an anti-fascist from Lithuania, also spoke at the conference. He emphasized: “Now is the time for joint efforts of anti-fascists from different countries to fight against the wave of barbaric fascism.” Andrei Getmanov, Chairman of the National Peace Foundation (Russia), also presented his position: “Our foundation has been operating for 22 years and has been promoting projects on the theme of the international peace movement. Now is the time to strengthen the system of the international peace movement. We will make every effort to achieve this goal.”
During the conference, the participants presented the situation in their countries and shared experiences of anti-war and peace activities. There was consensus on the need to strengthen international solidarity, support civil protests and create long-term structures of cooperation across continents.
The meeting also included invitations to upcoming peace events, including a demonstration for peace on February 1 at Dam Square in Amsterdam, a Hands off Venezuela rally on February 3 at Museumplein, and an international peace meeting on February 7 in Dakar, Senegal. The organizers called the conference a first step towards closer and more systematic coordination of the international peace movement.

Joint declaration of this online conference against fascists (January 25, 2026). EU crisis. The need for change. It is clear that the EU is in crisis. A few points.
First, corruption in the European Union continues to grow. Corruption-related scandals have become a tradition. Residents of EU countries, especially those with low living standards - such as Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Romania and Bulgaria - are very dissatisfied with the fact that the ruling circles are drowning in corruption and prospering. Many residents of these countries have fallen into poverty. If we consider the elite of Eastern European countries, these people are clearly connected to their overseers, primarily from Germany and the United States. It is clear that they represent, first of all, the interests of foreign powers.
Secondly, the inhabitants of the peripheral parts of the European Union are dissatisfied with the rise of militarism. After all, Lithuania, for example, is already a de facto occupied territory. The main occupiers are German troops. The same applies to American, British and several other NATO troops. Military training grounds are being built for them from the Lithuanian budget, and Lithuanian laws are completely ignored. Foreign troops often behave rudely, which causes fights, scandals and accidents. President Gitanas Nausėda and the Seimas do not protect the interests of Lithuania, but rather do everything to consolidate this occupation.
Thirdly, there is the problem of falsification of history and glorification of Nazism. In Eastern Europe, monuments to Soviet soldiers are being torn down and Nazi criminals who, together with the Germans, murdered civilians during World War II (the Holocaust and other atrocities) are being glorified. All this divides EU societies. Large neo-Nazi groups are flourishing. Political repressions against EU citizens who speak out for historical truth and against the glorification of Nazism are evident. And they often take the following position:
they support ties with Russia, Belarus and China. It is obvious that Lithuania must be demilitarized and transformed into a zone of peace. In this situation, the creation of working groups, consultations and practical steps are necessary. We appeal to anti-fascists around the world and call for cooperation. Socialist People's Front of Lithuania, Communists Party of Czechoslovakia, Union of Human Rights Observers of Lithuania, Estonian Union for Human Rights, New Communist Party of England, Alliance for Truth and Neutrality of Ireland, Amsterdam Anti-Fascist Initiative (Netherlands) and Pan-African Union of Senegal.
