Statement by our President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez:

There are no negotiations with the US government, except for technical contacts in the area of migration. We have always been willing to engage in a serious and responsible dialogue with the various US administrations, including the current one, based on sovereign equality, mutual respect, the principles of international law, mutual benefit without interference in internal affairs and with full respect for our independence.

The origin and extreme intensification of the blockade are not related to Cubans living in the US, who were brought there by this failed policy and the privileges deriving from the Cuban Adjustment Act. They are now victims of the change in policy towards migrants and the betrayal of politicians from Miami.

There are bilateral migration agreements in force that Cuba strictly respects. As history shows, for relations between the United States and Cuba to develop, they must be based on international law and not on hostility, threats, and economic pressure.

Venceremos! We will prevail!
